When hunting lone travelers—usually men—Daki adopts the form of a nikusui: a breathtakingly beautiful girl radiating an uncanny charm. However, this allure is only bait. Once the spirit attacks, the glamour drops to reveal a classic yurei: a pale, gaunt figure with unnaturally long arms and a face scored with wrinkles of rage. The moment she overtakes her quarry, those spectral arms clamp down with the pressure of iron bands, crushing the victim's chest.
Daki’s territory is the rocky coastline where she wails with the wind on fog-bound nights, luring fishermen to their deaths. She is also known to haunt rural inns and rooms where violence once occurred. Nearly every tale roots Daki in a personal tragedy—a drowned maiden or a betrayed wife. Over time, the spirit sheds all human identity to become a predator that feeds on terror and life force.
